Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide research and administrative support to the Assistant U.S. Trade Representative (AUSTR) for Environment and Natural Resources and other senior level staff. The employee assists senior level staff in locating and assembling trade data and information in support of analytical work relative to trade and environment issues, and participates in meetings or conferences for developmental purposes.

Duties

As a TRADE POLICY RESEARCH ASSISTANT, GS-0301-7/9, your typical work assignments may include the following:


  • Researches, reviews, reconciles, and develops a variety of trade information and other regulations related to trade policy, with a particular focus on environment and climate change issues.
  • Analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements related to assigned area of trade and develops recommendations.
  • Assists with compilation of information to be used in Congressional testimony, briefing maters, summary statements, negotiating text, and speeches on major trade issues.
  • Attends meeting for the principal, exercising some commitment authority.
  • Performs a variety of duties related to special projects and trade issues.
  • Provides support duties to include receiving telephone calls and visitors, maintains supervisor's calendar, and makes meeting and travel arrangements.
