Job Description

The Research Coordinator for the Office of Research and Innovation will support the development and implementation of the Region 2 GO Virginia project. The selected candidate will support the advisory committees, consisting of leaders from education and industry from the New River Valley, Roanoke-Alleghany Highlands, and Lynchburg Regions. This position will develop and lead data collection and analysis of an inventory of regional training programs.


This position involves serving as the main point of contact to help regional companies find training and technical assistance resources that best fit their needs. This position requires juggling multiple tasks and projects to meet program deadlines. In order to keep everything running seamlessly, the Research Coordinator must be highly motivated, extremely organized, capable of multitasking, have excellent communication skills, and be able to manage time well. This position also requires collaboration at all levels of the partner organizations, working with team members, senior management, and industry partners to advance the project. The successful candidate is expected to travel to partner locations.


Required Qualifications

●Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Education, or related field

●Demonstrated professional project management experience in an academic or industrial environment.

●Experience providing administrative support to committees.

●Strong composition, communication, and organizational skills.

●Proficiency with current software such as Zoom, MS Word, PPT, and Excel.

●Excellent attention to detail.

●Creative, independent, and highly motivated.

●Ability to work independently as well as with a team.

●Ability to travel to partner locations.

●Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications

●Experience in event planning.

●Experience with developing promotional materials.
