Deputy Finance Director

Introduction

The Prince William County Department of Finance is seeking to add a dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Finance Director to the CFO’s leadership team. The Deputy Finance Director will provide leadership and direction to department senior leadership. This position requires a strong management background and experience with coordinating and communicating financial and tax information with a variety of external organizations, internal departments, elected officials, executive leadership and the general public. ABOUT THIS ROLE:

This position reports directly to the CFO, is an equal partner with the existing Deputy, directs and collaborates with 2-6 Assistant Director level team members. The successful candidate must possess exceptional collaboration, management, communication and leadership skills able to lead an organization by example providing expertise and guidance in several functional areas simultaneously. 


Must possess knowledge, skills and abilities in managing and developing administrative principles and practices as well as:

• Managerial principles

• Strategy development principles and procedures

• Applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations

• Program development and administration principles and practices

• Budget administration principles

• Revenue estimation

• Assigned department operations and functions

• Public relations principles

• Methods of preparing reports

• Project management principles


PREFERENCES:

Master's degree or higher and five to seven years of municipal government experience plus three to five years of multi-level supervisory experience.


The successful candidate will have experience:

• Managing, supervising and evaluating employees

• Coordinating work with a variety of external organizations, internal departments, and/or the general public

• Developing and implementing strategic plans

• Interpreting, analyzing and applying Federal, State, and local laws and regulations

• Developing, evaluating, and implementing processes, policies, and procedures

• Reading, comprehending, and reviewing financial information

• Analyzing complex information and solving problems

• Analyzing processes and making recommendations for improvement

• Mediating conflict and negotiating

• Developing and administering budgets

• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to give and receive work direction


SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.


ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $114,426 - $152,568.00
