Planning + Design Services

McAdams is seeking an energetic planning professional to join our Planning + Design Group as a Planner I in our downtown Raleigh, North Carolina office. Working in a collaborative team environment this person will be responsible for helping grow our creative entitlement group.


Position Purpose

This person will collaborate with clients and internal teams on projects through all phases of design, due diligence, planning, entitlement, and site development. Responsibilities will include:

  • Due diligence analysis.
  • Preparation of application and graphic submittal materials to municipalities as necessary for rezoning, annexations, site, and subdivision plans, etc.
  • Developing and maintaining staff and client relationships.
  • Provide valuable entitlement contributions to internal project teams in all market sectors as well as directly to clients.

Candidates will be asked to provide work samples/portfolio of work examples related to the field of planning and entitlement.


Essential Functions + Responsibilities

  • Experience preparing complex entitlement documents and applications such as Annexations, Zone Map Changes, Land Use Plan Amendments, Planned Development District documents and Text Amendments
  • Candidate will work on a wide range of projects in multiple jurisdictions and will be comfortable presenting at public meetings and in private meetings with elected officials
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) is required
  • A ‘can-do’ attitude and willingness to lead and follow as a team player are critical for success.
  • Ability to interface with internal staff and external clients with diplomacy is essential


Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in city and Regional Planning, Landscape architecture or related study from a four-year accredited program
  • Minimum 1 years’ experience to 3+ years' experience in the planning field with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively with project team and manager
  • Be committed to team success as well as personal career growth
  • Possess excellent organizational and time management skills
