JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Tax Administration is charged with uniformly assessing and collecting taxes and fees for Fairfax County, including real estate taxes, vehicle (“car”) tax, local vehicle registration fees, business taxes, dog licenses, and parking tickets. 


This position is in the Business Processing Section and responds to inquiries from the business community by telephone, in person, or in incoming correspondence. The selected candidate will interpret and advise business representatives of state and county tax codes and guidelines for

tax assessment purposes. In addition, they will analyze and review business financial records such as the accuracy of gross receipts in BPOL filing forms, asset listing on tangible personal property filing forms, and state/federal tax filings.


Exercises discretion, independent judgment, and initiative to determine tax liability. Adheres to the matrix contained in the established secrecy of information guidelines set forth by Fairfax County. Performs data entry and verification functions.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency using basic Microsoft Office suite. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Must be detail oriented, accurate in data entry, organized, be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, and possess excellent customer service skills.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATON

Salary: $21.74/hour

Schedule: 32 hours per a week (Part-time)

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
