General Definition of Work

Entry level and project assignments as determined by the Planning and Building department.

The Town of Blacksburg Planning Division will have an opening for one paid intern for the summer. This internship offers a variety of experiences as well as ownership of a larger project that the intern will work on from start to finish. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience for a career in urban planning. Successful candidates will have familiarity with urban and regional planning through coursework in areas such as urban design, sustainability, economic development, landscape architecture, architectural history, political science, environmental studies, geography, public administration, or other closely related fields.

This position is for 6-10 hours per week, from mid-May through mid-August 2026.
