Economists in EPA's Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT) are at the forefront of applied regulatory economics in the federal government, helping decision-makers understand the benefits, costs, and impacts of different approaches to reducing risk from toxin chemicals under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TCSA).
Duties and Skills
OPPT's economists conduct chemical market and use studies and analyses of the costs, benefits and socio-economic impacts of regulatory and non-regulatory actions to support OPPT's activities. Applicants should be able to work in a multi-disciplinary team setting, conduct analysis in the face of limited available data and existing methods, and be able to manage several projects simultaneously.
